Boss Andy Sinton is aiming to keep flying winger Greg Mills at AFC Telford United for at least two more months - and extend the stay of defender Will Salmon.

Teenager Mills, who is on a month's loan from Derby County, has been a big part of the Bucks' flying start to the Blue Square Bet North season - which continued with Saturday's 5-0 success at Gainsbrough Trinity.

Sinton would like to increase that loan to two or three months and has had productive talks with the Rams.

"I spoke to Gary Crosby (the Derby assistant manager) on Friday because, with as well as Mills is doing, there are people sniffing around," said the Telford chief.

"But if they allow Mills to go on loan for another couple of months it will be with us. That's the arrangement I've got with Derby and it's nice to know."

Sinton is also eager to keep hold of Basingstoke-based right-back Salmon, who is currently only signed up on a short-term deal.

"I've had Will for two years and he's a class act," he said. "He's taken to it like a duck to water for us.

Laugh

"If I can get Will long term I will. He's done me a bit of a favour by coming here and the idea was to put him in the shop window.

"If I told you how much he was playing here for you'd probably laugh - he just loves playing football, he's doing it for next to nothing and doing great."

Sinton is also refusing to get carried away by his side's 100 per cent start to the campaign. "Am I in dreamland? Not really, because I believe in these players," he declared.

"We've done nothing yet, we've got to keep a lid on it.

"Expectations are probably going to go through the roof because of what we're doing but we're only a week into a long, hard season.

"We've had a top week, probably as good as anyone could have hoped for, but we've got to go again."

Tyree Clarke marked his Stafford debut with a goal in his new side's 2-2 draw with Guiseley after joining from the Bucks on Friday.
