The injury problems off the field mounted for AFC Telford United ahead of the new Blue Square Bet North season, after last night's 4-2 defeat to a young Wolves side in their final pre-season friendly.

The nightmare broken leg for winger Sean Evans dominated the evening but there were also concerns on the pitch for Andy Sinton's men as a catalogue of defensive errors saw the Bucks 4-0 down inside an hour.

Although two late goals and an improved second half display gave fans some heart, Sinton was left disappointed by his team's defending.

"The goals we gave away were nothing short of a joke," Sinton said.

"We give a penalty away after three minutes when we've had the chance to clear the ball three times. The second goal he's gone past people without a challenge. The third goal you wouldn't see on a Sunday morning. And the fourth goal has come from our corner.

"We were never able to get a foothold in the game."

But Sinton added: "In the last 20 minutes we played some good stuff. I challenged the lads to win the second half and we did so we showed a bit of character."

Wolves were one up inside the opening five minutes after Martyn Naylor upended visiting full back Matt Hill in the box and Sam Winnall converted the penalty.

They doubled their advantage when the excellent Jake Cassidy, on trial with the Molineux men from Welsh Premier League side Airbus, waltzed past three Telford challenges to finish neatly with the outside of his right foot.

And Wolves made it three in comical fashion. Full back Naylor elected to chip a back pass to keeper Young who, under no pressure, allowed the ball to slip under his foot and roll agonisingly into an empty net.

After the break Winnall added his second with a deft chip over Young following a lightening quick Wolves counter attack before Evans' horror injury soured the evening.

Telford gave their fans something to cheer when Greg Mills curled a right footed free kick from wide on the left straight into the far corner. And the home side scored again moments later when Alex Meechan converted a penalty after the striker himself had been hauled down by Steven Mouyokolo inside the box.
