Down one minute, up the next — Chester Road have gone through the emotions on their travels in two nights in the Furrows Shropshire Premier Bowls League.

The Whitchurch big guns lost 10-4 at Childs Ercall on Thursday night, being on the wrong end of three 21-20 cards.

But they bounced back last night to win 9-5 and with something to spare at Wem USC, who were without skipper Mel Jenkins and star man Derek Wright.

Leaders Castlefields marched on with an 11-3 home win over Childs Ercall but it was relegation haunted Bylet and Bowring who perhaps had most to celebrate.

The Bridgnorth side followed up their stunning 11-3 midweek win over Castlefields by beating Meole Brace 10-4 while Bowring enjoyed a same score success over Ifton.

Details: Bylet 10 (+20, Andy James 21-4), Meole Brace 4 (Colin Beaman & Tony Hotchkiss 21-12); Bowring 10 (+39, Steve Cox 21-3), Ifton 4 (Geraint Williams 21-10); Sir John Bayley 11 (+64, Spencer Clarke 21-4), Ford 3 (Pete Griffiths 21-11).

Castlefields 11 (+58, Rich Goddard 21-5), Childs Ercall 3 (Jonathan Martin 21-14); St Georges 13 (+94, Alan Palin 21-3), Archibald Worthington 1 (Les Marekham 21-14); Wem USC 5 (Peter Bound, Graham Dulson & Mike Dulson 21-16), Chester Road 9 (+33, Martin Lloyd & Paul Griffiths 21-9); Wrockwardine Wood 8 (+9, Ryan Stevens 21-9), Newport 6 (Martin France 21-12).
