Bridgewater Bowling Club have been handed a realistic shot of extending their surprise County Cup run into the semi-finals.

The only non-Premier League team remaining in the last eight face a quarter-final tie against Ford at Sinclair.

"It's going to be tough against Premier League opposition - but it could have been worse," said Peter Tew, secretary of the Whitchurch League high-flyers.

"It's the furthest I can remember the club going in the competition and it's generating a lot of interest.

"It's a credit to the players involved because a lot of our first team don't play for us in this competition as they are at Premier League clubs."

The most mouthwatering of the quarter final ties, which will be played on Wednesday week, pits St Georges against Wem at Craven Arms.

Holders Chester Road will expect a routine victory against struggling Bylet at Allscott while Greenfields will stage a Wellington derby between Sir John Bayley and Bowring.
