Wolves are gearing up for the final week of the transfer window by preparing one last push for Hull winger Stephen Hunt.

They today confirmed the signing of French midfielder Adlene Guedioura on loan for the rest of the season.

But Hunt remains another top target for boss Mick McCarthy.

The clubs' clash at the KC Stadium this Saturday isn't the ideal backdrop for Wolves prising their survival rivals' best player.

But it won't stop them mounting what is expected to be a third and final bid for the Republic of Ireland international.

Two approaches rising to £3.5m have been rejected by the Tigers, but the indications are they could go in again to tempt them into selling.

It is understood Hull's need to line up a replacement, or another striker before the window shuts could hold up any deal.

Chief executive Jez Moxey said: "We're continuing in our efforts to bring in one or two players, but it's proving extremely difficult.

"Clubs are very reluctant to part company with their best players, although there's still time to do some business with the activity hopefully hotting up as the deadline - a week today - approaches."

In the outgoing department, Wolves' out-of-favour left back Matt Hill has joined QPR on loan for the rest of the season.

Guedioura, 24, has joined from Charleroi, and the deal could be come permanent if he impresses McCarthy. The signing is Wolves' second of the transfer window, and their second from Charleroi, following the arrival of Geoffrey Mujangi Bia.

"Adlene is an all-round midfield player who is very mobile and can get up and down the pitch," McCarthy said. "Technically he is also very good and has the physical characteristics to be able to cope with the Premier League. He's another player who has been scouted abroad by (Ian Evans) and I'm delighted we've been able to bring him in."
