Last year's St Leger winner Lucarno will stand at Bill Bromley's Wood Farm Stud in Shropshire next season.

Trained by John Gosden and owned by George Strawbridge, the son of Dynaformer also won the Great Voltigeur Stakes as a three-year-old, as well as the Princess Of Wales's Stakes this summer.

A delighted Bromley said from his base near Ellerdine, north of Telford: "This is a massive boost to British jumps breeding.

"The success of Kayf Tara (Godolphin's stallion) has shown that you don't need to be based on the other side of the Irish Sea – and I am honoured to be standing such an imposing Group One winner.

"He joins Norse Dancer and three other fellow Classic winners in Sir Harry Lewis, Silver Patriarch and Erhaab at the stud."

Lucarno, who will stand his first season at stud at a fee of £2,000, will be paraded at the Cheltenham NH Stallion Parade prior to racing at Prestbury Park tomorrow.
