Matt Murray ends his 15-month injury nightmare for Wolves tonight - with a view to being recalled to the bench for Saturday's clash against Bristol City.
The 27-year-old keeper is down to play 45 minutes for a reserve side at Nuneaton in the Birmingham Senior Cup after returning to full training two weeks ago and suffering no reaction.
Providing he comes through, Murray is set to be on the bench for the visit of the Robins, with Carl Ikeme deputising for the suspended Wayne Hennessey.
But, after being out since July, 2007, following a reconstruction of his cruciate knee ligament, the former England under-21 international is taking things one step at a time.
"It's maybe a little bit ahead of schedule, but all medical staff are happy with it," said Murray, whose last of 100 senior appearances came at Leicester in May 2007 before shoulder and knee injuries.
"I've made good progress since the last injection which is over four weeks ago now.
"I trained with first team last Friday and it went well.
"The knee feels great - I feel as positive as I've been since picking up the injury and the medical staff are as well."
