Andy Moss has kicked off a potential Blackpool bowls bonanza for Shropshire.

The Chester Road ace clinched the prestigious Talbot Trophy at the Raikes in the Lancashire resort yesterday by defeating Ifton's Cheshire-based star Noel Burrows 21-14 in the final.

That provides a timely boost for Shropshire Ladies, who head to Blackpool's Waterloo green on Sunday for their British County Championship final against Warwickshire.

Moss collected £800 for his triumph - but didn't require the passage to next weekend's Champion of Champions also on offer for the winner, having already claimed a second Shropshire Merit title earlier this year

Castlefields duo Rich Goodard and Clay Flattley were both beaten in the last 16 by Burrows and Stoke's Pete Bailey respectively while St Georges' Chris Ball bowed out in round one.
