Historic Moss is up with 'cream'

Andy Moss has joined the crown green bowling greats - as the first Shropshire man to win the Autumn Waterloo championship.

The 31-year-old Chester Road star won Britain's biggest singles knockout competition by beating ex-Craven Arms man Terry Cutting 21-17 in the final at Blackpool yesterday.

A day that started at 5am with Moss milking the cows at his family's farm near Woore, ended with him joining the cream of the sport after winning the national title he craved - and its £3,000 first prize.

But it was not the money that was on his mind as the 1999 County Merit winner reflected on a startling seaside success that began with a 21-18 victory over British No 1 Graeme Wilson in the quarter-finals.
