What's it like? "Pant is a little village with a school, one shop and one pub, beneath the backdrop of the beautiful Llanymynech rock on the English/Welsh border.

"It's a five minute drive from Oswestry and is desperately awaiting the proposed by-pass which will leave it very quaint indeed. Being on Offas Dyke, Pant is also extremely popular with tourists and walkers."

What's good about it? "Development is kept to a minimum and there is a good sense of community spirit with families having lived here for generations. However, new housing is being created in Llanymynech, half a mile down the road."

Any downsides? "Well the name always raises a few eyebrows! The bus service into Oswestry, as with most rural villages, is useless! Can feel a bit isolated sometimes, as it is very out of the way."

Where's good for going out? "There isn't much choice, but the Cross Guns is a nice place to start. Nearby West Felton has a few lovely little pubs, and Oswestry's good for nightlife and culture.

"For activities, there's a popular hovercraft flying centre and quad biking facility nearby, and a great little golf club on top of the hill."

Little known facts: The legendary golfer Ian Woosnam OBE learned his sport at the golf course there. And Pant actually means 'hollow' in Welsh – so called because it was mined for limestone many years ago.

Average house price: £116,000 to £245,000 (figure taken from mouseprice.com)

Schools: Bryn Offa C.E Primary School.
