More than 30 suits have been provided for the club by Shrewsbury menswear retailer Pockets, which fitted players and backroom staff out for them at the start of the season.

They have been wearing the navy suits, with a shirt and Shrewsbury Town club tie, to all games at the Prostar Stadium and will be wearing them on Saturday ahead of the big match.

New members Omer Riza and Moses Ashikodi did not have suits to wear for the game – but Pockets stepped in to measure the players and to get them matching suits in time for the big final against Gillingham.

Paul Platt, managing director, from Pockets delivered the suits yesterday morning.

Paul Simpson, manager of Shrewsbury Town FC, said: "The players have been turned out nicely all season and it helps to put over the professional image that the club has. Paul and his staff at Pockets have been very helpful over the season and have done an excellent job getting Omer's and Moses's suits ready so quickly.

"It will be a real big boost to the players' confidence when we walk out on the Wembley turf looking so good."

Mr Platt, 38, who set up Pockets in the town in 1996, said he was delighted to have been asked to Mr Simpson to supply the suits.

He said: "I've built up a nice relationship with Paul and it was nice to supply them before their success. It's really nice to be involved in it. It's good for the town.

I think Paul has a good squad of guys and I think they will do very well."
