Airlift for stone to repair hill paths

A helicopter delivered the stone, quarried locally, to the Carding Mill Valley yesterday. The grit stone, which is native to the Long Mynd, was transported from Bayston Hill Quarry to Carding Mill Valley by a specialist helicopter team from Bedfordshire. nextpage
The National Trust is repairing and improving pathways at the Long Mynd. It wants to prevent erosion and make sure people can enjoy the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.nextpage
More than 100 metres of pathway and stream bank are set to be restored and 25 metres of stone pitching will take place along steep hillsides.
