Lions' £500 gift to selfless community driver

The Market Drayton Lions Club held their 30th Charter Lunch at the Old Jack in Calverhall, near Whitchurch, and invited a special guest.

Ron Guy of the Lions Club said: "Present at the event was John Harrison from North Salop Wheelers, who run a pick-up transport service from isolated homes into town or hospital.

"Market Drayton Lions presented John with a cheque for £500 for their funds. The Wheelers are always looking for donations to continue their valuable work."

John coordinates the Wheelers service, which was set up in 2003 with the aim of providing accessible and affordable transport to the people of North Shropshire.
