Drivers have faced months of misery due to the works.

But work will begin tonight to complete the job. It means the roundabout will be closed overnight from 8pm to 6am from tonight until December 23 to enable overnight surfacing works.

This will result in some noise disruption for local residents, who have been informed by letter.

The works are weather dependent but the forecast is for mild night time temperatures, meaning the work should be able to be completed as planned.

Limekiln Bank island is one of six roundabouts that are being upgraded across the borough as part of the Telford Growth Point package.

This is funded by a combination of Marches Local Enterprise Partnership funding and Section 106 contributions from developers.

It is to ensure ensure the road network is capable of coping with anticipated increases in traffic as a result of new business and housing in the borough.

The work had been set to be completed in September, but Telford & Wrekin Council said it was delayed by Severn Trent Water, who said they were determined to meet the new deadline.
