The A49, from Preston roundabout near Shrewsbury to the Sundorne roundabout, will be closed for five nights from 8pm to 6am.
Pedestrians, dismounted cyclists and dismounted horse riders will be allowed access through the closure, which will allow time for pre surface dressing patching.
Drivers will be diverted north on the A49, onto Battlefield Road, Telford Way, Robertson Way and Bage Way. The route will then go on to Pritchard Way, Hazeldine Way, Hereford Road, the A5, Emstrey Island and the A5.
It was revealed last week that the A49 in south Shropshire would close overnight for resurfacing from August 15 to October 13.
