The new Harry Potter mobile game, Hogwarts Mystery, has opened pre-registration for Android users ahead of the game’s launch later this year.

Not to be confused with the augmented reality Harry Potter game being developed by Pokemon Go creator Niantic, Hogwarts Mystery is a role-playing game where users create their own character and then depart on their own journey through the school years at Hogwarts.

A new teaser trailer has been released to mark the opening of the pre-registration.

According to the developers, these choices will affect a character’s story arc and impact the quests that open up to players.

Chris DeWolfe, co-founder and chief executive of Jam City – the studio developing the game, said early response had been overwhelming.

“We are grateful to the fans who have made Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery one of the most anticipated mobile games of 2018,” he said.

“We’re thrilled to open Google pre-registration and share a new sneak peek at how this game will let fans create their own character and enter Hogwarts as a student for the first time.”

The game will be launched in the spring for both Android and iOS, but an exact release date is still to be confirmed.
