Shirley Reynolds and Charles Smith (incumbents), Labour

Shirley Reynolds and Charles Smith

We are proud to represent the place where we have raised our families and the place we call home.

Shirley, a local teacher, is a strong local campaigner. Having lived in Wrockwardine Wood and Trench her whole life, she knows the area and has fought hard to improve it.

Charles, a retired engineer, has campaigned hard for vital improvements in the area. Both Shirley and Charles are school governors at Wrockwardine Wood Junior School.

Shirley and Charles have donated £10,000 of their councillor allowances and ward funding to help local good causes. This includes the installation of a defibrillator, the purchasing of speed cameras to tackle speeding in Wrockwardine Wood and Trench, and road safety training for all children in the area.

Shirley and Charles were instrumental in securing money for the extension at Teagues Bridge Primary School and the rebuilding of Trench Tots. Over £250,000 of investment has been made into local roads, parking schemes and footpaths, as a result of Shirley and Charles’ campaigning on behalf of residents.

If re-elected, they promise:

  • To tackle speeding on Wombridge Road and Trench Road.

  • Continue to improve road safety outside of schools.

  • Provide more parking on Wade Road.

  • Continue to invest in local schools.

  • Protect, care and invest in the place we call home.

David Haigh, Conservative

David Haigh of the Conservative Party, is also standing as a candidate in this ward. All candidates were offered 200 words, regardless of party affiliation. Mr Haigh did not provide a manifesto before the deadline.
