Mr Dunne, the Conservative MP for Ludlow was one of the casualties of the Prime Minister’s re-shuffle.

His dismissal brought to an end a five-and-a-half year period of holding ministerial positions in the government, having previously held a post in the Ministry of Defence.

Mr Kawczynski said: “To lose such a decent, intelligent and effective minister as Philip Dunne is a mistake.”

He said Theresa May must bring him back to government and that he should be in the cabinet.

Mr Kawczynski added: “I feel the Prime Minister has made a serious mistake as there isn’t another minister in Westminster with his integrity, decency and intellect from my experience.”

Mr Dunne was replaced by Caroline Dinenage as minister for health and social care.
