Microsoft brings nostalgia trip to the TV with Hot Wheels for flagship racer
Free update to Forza Motorsport 7 adds Hot Wheels cars to the game to celebrate 50 years of iconic toy

Microsoft is giving Hot Wheels lovers the chance to bring their childhood toys into 21st century gaming reality.
A selection of machines from the iconic toy range is being added to its flagship racing game, celebrating 50 years since the Hot Wheels brand first hit the shops.
A free updated Forza Motorsport 7 has been released with seven cars from the history of Hot Wheels.
Cars in this new pack include brand icons such as the Twin Mill from 1969, 2011 Bone Shaker and 2017 Rip Rod. On top of that, a number of real-world cars are included with a unique Hot Wheels take on them, namely a 1963 Volkswagen Beetle, 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, 1970 Chevrolet Corvette and 2005 Ford Mustang. Each also gets a unique 50th anniversary livery.
On top of the cars, players can also opt for new Hot Wheels-themed racing suits for their virtual drivers, with one for each decade since the toy line launched.

Four of the cars in the expansion – the Twin Mill, Bone Shaker, Rip Rod and Ford Mustang – will also be introduced to Forza Motorsport 7’s open-world sister title Forza Horizon 4, which is set in a ‘greatest hits’ virtual rendition of the UK. Both games are currently available for Xbox One and PC.
It’s not the first time Hot Wheels has made an appearance in a Forza game. In 2017, an expansion pack was released for Forza Horizon 3, which brought a new world to the game, made entirely from the firm’s iconic orange tracks and complete with a selection of cars.
