Explainer video released for complicated Porsche 911 range
German sports car firm details broad range of its most famous machine in new video

Confused by the ever-growing Porsche 911 range? Fear no longer, as the firm has released an explainer video to help.
With 24 derivatives of the 911 on offer, it can be easy to lose track of what’s what, but this new clip is designed to have you clued up.
It starts with a brief history of the sports car, which has been in production since 1963, for those unfamiliar with the famous nameplate.
Viewers are then told to ‘fasten your seatbelts’ before the base model Carrera is introduced. From there, the soft-top Cabriolet and all-wheel-drive Carrera 4 make an appearance. We’re then told of the more powerful Carrera S, model-topping GTS and the T — the ‘purest’ of all the 911s.
So, while that alone may seem a lot for any other manufacturer, the end is far from in sight. Up next is the Targa, which the video proudly boasts an aluminium roll bar that ‘turns the 911 into a design icon’.
Then we come to the high-performance 911 Turbo. Oddly though, the video leaves it as ‘available in coupe and convertible body styles’ — and neglecting to mention the even more powerful S variants of each.

Topping the Porsche 911 range are the GT variants, which get a pretty special mention here. Starting with the GT3, viewers are guided through the motorsport-bred heritage of the models, leading to the thoroughbred RS variants.
That’s not all, though. The video is rounded out with a little tip on breaking down the model designation of a 911, with the range nomenclature followed by the body type, and then variant within that.
All caught up now? Good, just in time for the all-new Porsche 911 that’s set to be revealed next year.
