Toyota Motor Europe's executive vice-president, Thierry Dombreval, said the futuristic Hybrid X gives a glimpse of the future for Toyota's hybrid synergy drive system.nextpagetoyota-hybrid-x-concept-6.jpg

"The Hybrid X proposes a new design language," said Dombreval. "It has large glass areas and controllable ambience within the car – the driver can adjust the four senses of sight, sound, touch and smell."nextpagetoyota-hybrid-x-concept-3.jpg

Along with their 400bhp FT-HS hybrid sports car, which was shown at Detroit last January, Toyota say the Hybrid X will define the frontiers for an array of future hybrids.nextpagetoyota-hybrid-x-concept-5.jpg

Toyota and Lexus now have 11 hybrid models on offer, and 900,000 hybrids have now been sold worldwide. Around 650,000 of these have been the popular Prius models.nextpagetoyota-hybrid-x-concept-4.jpg

Dombreval added that Toyota plans to sell 1.2 million cars in Europe this year, bolstered by strong sales of small cars. The Yaris and Aygo combined will account for 370,000 cars sold in 2007.
