Hunt for war veteran's daughters in medals quest
Calling daughters of the late Tony Lefevre of Shropshire - a widower from Anglesey is trying to track you down to offer you your late father's war medals.
But Dave Percival has a problem as he does not know their names nor where they live.
"He died in 1993 and I married his widow who has also passed away and I inherited his war medals," said Dave.
"He worked at GKN and was a well known bandsman and I believe lived in the Ketley area. I believe he had two daughters who may be married by now but still living in the area.
"I want to contact the daughters because they are his only next of kin as far as I’m aware and also they might have children who might like them. If no-one wants the medals I shall probably donate them to the Ganges museum where he joined up or give them to my son.
"I never knew the name of his first wife or of his daughters."
He is hoping they will get in touch with him at: Dave Percival, Llanynghenedl, Anglesey LL65 3DA, or at typeredur@btinternet.com by email.
Divorced Tony's second wife's name was Decima, known as Delce. Dave married Delce in December 1995, almost three years after Tony's death.
Dave says Tony's full name was Walter John Anthony Hanstock Lefevre and he was born in Cambridgeshire on August 27, 1926, and died on February 23, 1993.
"He joined the Navy on January 1, 1942, and after basic training went into submarines for the duration of the war. He served in the Mediterranean and the Far East until the end of the war.
"He left the Navy in 1950 and went to work for GKN Peterborough and then transferred to GKN at Telford.
"He had always been a keen bandsman and met his second wife, who was also a keen bandswoman. I believe they served in several local bands, among them GKN and Shropshire Police Band. His wife - who eventually became my wife - was school secretary at Orleton Park School in Wellington for 28 years.
"Sometime later Tony lost both his legs to sugar diabetes although he carried on pretty much as usual. I was also an ex-submariner post-war and met Tony through both of us belonging to ex-submariners' organisations."
Dave says he never met Tony's first wife or daughters but knows of their existence through Delce’s family.
Delce died in August 2006.
