Daniel Gittins, 28, of Beaumont Court, Church Stretton, punched and kicked a friend who had given him somewhere to stay and demanded money from him.

Six weeks later he attacked a man living in shared accommodation.

Both attacks happened in Telford.

At Shrewsbury Crown Court on Tuesday Gittins was jailed for 40 months for attempted robbery and 12 months for wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.

Mr Recorder Eugene Egan ordered that the sentences run consecutively giving a total of 52 months imprisonment.
