Archie Spriggs: Reverend pays tribute boy found dead near Church Stretton during special service

Further tributes have flooded in for seven-year-old Archie Spriggs who was found dead near Church Stretton.

Archie was found dead at Wall under Heywood on Thursday evening.

His mother Lesley Speed, 44, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A service of reflection was held at St Peter's Church in Rushbury yesterday, where candles were lit in Archie's memory.

The Rev Nancy Cleaton, from the church, said: "Archie was a valued member of the school and community and his death in such tragic circumstances has had a profound effect on the whole village of Rushbury."

Police and paramedics rushed to Rushbury Road on Thursday evening in a desperate attempt to provide treatment for the youngster.

A police forensics tent was set up at the house in Wall under Heywood near Church Stretton

Despite their efforts Archie died at the house.
