The otter was placed into a box

Matt Baker from Wollerton in Market Drayton, says it was he and another shopper that managed to capture the otter on Saturday, not the Shrewsbury Rangers, who later released it into the Severn.

But the pair had to seek hospital treatment after bagging the normally river dwelling mammal who took objection to being removed from a shop and gave them both a "nip" for their trouble.

Mr Baker said he was shopping with his wife in Pride Hill when they saw the otter ambling down the high street and followed it into a mobile phone shop.
