Shrewsbury Food Festival postponed until September due to pandemic

Shrewsbury Food Festival has been postponed until September, but organisers are hopeful it will still go ahead this year as the Covid vaccine roll out continues.

The festival was due to take place in the Quarry in June, but the town council has said it cannot go ahead on the planned dates.

A spokeswoman for the festival said: "We were planning on waiting until next month to make a decision on whether our food festival could go ahead this June, but the council have now told us we cannot go ahead with our June dates.

"This means the Shrewsbury Food Festival 2021 is now booked to take place on September 4 and 5.

"The important thing is we are just planning to postpone the festival and not altogether cancel at this time.

"Your tickets to Shrewsbury Food Festival will be automatically transferred to the new dates, unless you tell us otherwise. If you can’t make the dates, you could transfer your tickets to next year’s food festival – which will be June 25 and 26, 2022. If that still doesn’t work for you, just let us know at tickets@shropshirefestivals.co.uk.

"If it isn’t possible to hold the event in September, we will take that decision nearer the time and give you as much notice as possible, but we are very hopeful with the amazing vaccine roll out going so well that won’t be the case. Until then, stay well and stay safe."
