Shrewsbury bus lane reinstated due to lockdown

A bus lane is being reinstated in a town centre due to the Covid-19 lockdown.

Castle Street bus lane is Shrewsbury had been suspended to make space for more pedestrians to maintain social distancing.

But with lockdown in place and less people expected to be in the town centre, traffic measures have returned to normal for the time being.

A Shropshire Council spokesman said: "Due to the lockdown the bus lane on Castle Street. Shrewsbury – which was suspended to provide additional footpath width – will be reinstated from today.

"All temporary traffic management measures will be removed - including planters - and signage reinstated.

"The three original pay and display parking bays will be made available to enable essential visits.

"The measures may be reinstated once the lockdown restrictions are eased."
