Shropshire man raises £1,000 for cancer fund
A Shropshire man has handed more than £1,000 to the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund after running a half marathon in memory of his father.

Peter Lewis, who works at the Oswestry branch of Santander Bank, recently presented £1,087 to the local cancer charity. His father died in August 2018, aged 56.
Mr Lewis raised the money through sponsorship by running the Wrexham Half Marathon earlier this year. The bank supported him through its match-funding scheme.
“I felt that I wanted to give something back to say thank you for the fantastic care my Dad received from local cancer services, including the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
"Both my Dad and I always felt that the atmosphere created by the staff at the centre made people feel more at ease, it is different from most hospital environments.
“Training for and running the half marathon was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but I feel immensely proud to have been able to help Lingen Davies Cancer Fund in this way and I know my Dad would be incredibly proud too.”
Jane Trudgill, from Fundraising officer at Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, said: “Peter’s funds have helped us to reach a challenging £1.25m target to mark the charity’s 40th anniversary.
"This has enabled us to fund a range of projects including equipment, well-being programmes and specialist staff.
"The support of people living and working in our local community helps to keep these excellent and vital services accessible to the people of Shropshire, Mid Wales and Telford & Wrekin.”
