Tomorrow is one of our biggest events of the year, our annual rally, which is at Buckley Farm, Maesbury, Oswestry, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Malcolm Roberts.
Buckley Farm will be transformed in to an YFC Olympic park with more than 60 diverse competitions throughout the day. Everyone is welcome to come along and watch our members compete in competitions such as dry synchronised swimming, bricklaying, sumo Wrestling, opening ceremony dances and many more fun things – and also to visit our packed home section.
Many of our 950 members will be out in force dressing up and preparing to gain points across many competitions against other members from throughout the county, to win one of 16 prestigious cups and to take home the title '2012 Rally Winners.'
Our members spend so much of their own time to prepare and put together entries for this day. It's amazing to see the talents and energy everyone has.
The day is buzzing with colour and enthusiasm, and not to mention our older members and advisory who come together to help, judge competitions and put on food for all to enjoy.
So feel free to come along to see Shropshire YFC at its very best.
We have gained planning permission for our charity build project and it is quickly gaining momentum. We are to build an education and training venue for Shropshire Forest Schools in a wood, south of Shrewsbury.
We have actually now started on site, removing trees and prepping it to start building. We are so grateful to the companies who have supported us so far; Dyke Yaxley, FBC Manby Bowdler, Tarmac, SJ Roberts, Wildes, to name but a few. We are still looking for support and donations of materials, including timber, so we can start to construct the walls.
If you are unable to help us with materials we would be grateful for any support. Please log on to www.charitygiving.co.uk/sfyfcbuildchallenge to donate.
Or visit our Facebook page to get in touch if you would like to find out more information or to follow our progress.
This year's charity challenge would not be possible without the support and input of our members and those who continue to support us. I would like to thank everyone so much and encourage everyone to get involved – it's a great project with so many opportunities.
