An exceptionally large crowd attended a sale of live and dead farming stock at Hine Heath Farm, Stanton, Shrewsbury.

The sale, one of the last of the current season, started with an excellent range of well-maintained, modern farm machinery presented by the vendors Messrs D. and M. Ingham.

Joint top price in this section went to two John Deere tractors, firstly a 2004 6220 which realised £20,000 and a 2001 6810. A 2000 JCB 520-50 telescopic loader sold at £13,200 and a West 1600 dual spreader made £4,750.

Trade was equally as good for the cattle on offer, comprising 65 dairy animals, which peaked at £1,300 for an in-calf heifer. Milking cows sold to £1,240 and bulling heifers selling to £760.

Forty store cattle sold to £605 for Belgian Blue steers and £600 for Limousin heifers.

The sale followed Mr and Mrs David Ingham's decision to retire from farming.
