Shrewsbury Auction Centre's growing reputation as one of the country's top livestock markets has been further enhanced by the Suffolk Sheep Society's decision to hold its National Show and Sale at the venue later this month.
Pedigree Suffolk sheep breeders from across the UK will be heading for Shrewsbury on July 27 and 28, much to the delight of Shrewsbury Auction Centre manager Nick Hyne, a director of Halls.
Last year, a top price of 9,000 guineas was achieved at the sale for a ram lamb and average prices were £100 up on the previous year.
"We are delighted to attract sales of this calibre and hope to establish Shrewsbury as a key venue for national livestock sales," said Mr Hyne.
"The state-of-the-art livestock facilities and our central position in the UK makes Shrewsbury Auction Centre an ideal choice to hold national sales for breed societies."
