Buyers from as far away as Ireland and Scotland were attracted to a dispersal sale of agricultural contractor's equipment and general farm machinery near Shrewsbury.

Auctioneers Halls conducted the sale on behalf of contracting business partners Darren Griffiths and his mother Margaret at The Coach House, Burlton.

The family, which has lived at The Coach House for nearly 31 years, has decided to change business direction, although Mr Griffiths' father, Malcolm is to continue mowing and wrapping in conjunction with a local contractor.

Leading prices included £43,250 for a Fendt 818 4WD tractor, £37,400 for a John Deere 6920S 4WD tractor, £27,100 and £21,800 for two Claas Quadrant 2200 balers and £19,000 for a John Deere 6310 4WD tractor with loader.

"The sale attracted huge interest because the machinery was such good quality and presented to an extremely high standard," said auctioneer Allen Gittins.

"People knew that they were buying quality machinery that had been serviced regularly."
