Contest winners celebrating
The winner of the Best Boundary Management for Wildlife and Farming Competition, organised by Shropshire Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group, has recently been announced. Congratulations to Richard Adney, who farms at Chilton Farm, Atcham.

Congratulations to Richard Adney, who farms at Chilton Farm, Atcham. He was awarded the Shropshire Perpetual Challenge Shield at Attingham Park, Shrewsbury. This was awarded for farming and conservation, together with a £250 voucher for conservation projects.
Sponsored by Wrekin Farmers Ltd and Balfours, the 2006 award was part of a Shropshire competition which aimed this year to find the farm or smallholding with evidence of positive conservation value for 100 metres of boundary.
It could have been a hedgerow, a field margin, watercourse or ditch or a combination of those, in a whole farm context. It may provide habitat for birds, insects, plants or mammals, be a part of an important wildlife corridor, or have some other important conservation feature.
Roy Jefferson, one of the judges, said how difficult judging was because of the high standard of the entries.
