The 23.24 acre parcel of land at Llanwyddelan, near Newtown, Powys, was sold by auctioneer Richard Evans of Morris, Marshall & Poole for £146,000, making £6,282 an acre.

The land, which is laid mainly to pasture with a small woodland and a general purpose building, falls within the current severely disadvantaged less favoured area definition enabling it to benefit from higher rate subsidies.

Seller Mr Brian Jones of Aberhafesp put the land up for auction after recently acquiring another block of land closer to his main holding.

The 23.24 acre parcel had been originally bought by his father more than 30 years ago.
