Loss of land to natural riverbank erosion is a serious problem for many farmers in Shropshire.  Many are at a loss as to how to stop or even slow down this natural process.

To help farmers with this difficult problem, Shropshire FWAG is holding a free workshop on September 13 in partnership with Fluvio Environmental Consultants.

Dr Paul Brewer, an expert with over 20 years experience in preventing riverbank erosion, will look at a section of the River Clun and give expert advice to farmers on the most cost-effective, long-lasting solutions to the problem.

Farmers will get the chance to look at work that has already been undertaken at Clungunford and see for themselves how it is working.

Becky Floate, farm conservation adviser for FWAG, Andrew Sherrott, adviser for the River Teme Catchment and Jackie Siffleet from the Environment Agency will also be on hand to answer farmers' questions throughout the day.

Places are free to farmers and landowners but must be booked in advance. To book call Shropshire FWAG on 01939 262150.
