Video and pictures: 'Disgusting' thieves ransack Shrewsbury charity shop and steal safe
Thieves have ransacked a Shrewsbury charity shop which helps rescue dogs from Cyprus and and the UK stealing its safe leaving its volunteers heartbroken.
Jodies Cyprus Dogs Rehoming has a shop on Ditherington Road in Shrewsbury, and when one of its volunteers came to open the shop this morning they were left shocked to find the window put though.
Founder Jodie Lane said: "They have smashed the front window in and then smashed the window through to get into the office.
"They have taken to safe and the cash box which contained funds for a dog in Cyprus to be castrated, two days takings and our float - which in total amounts to about £300.
"I know that doens't seem much, but to us it is. This shop is how we make money to help the dogs.
"I can'tget into my head who would break into a charity shop like this, it's disgusting.
"It really makes me feel sick."
Within just half an hour of Jodie posting about the break-in on Facebook she had already received a generous donation of £200, with more people commenting that they were also donating.
Then later in the evening they had an amazing anonymous donation of £1,000.
