Second victim dies after crash on main road near Bridgnorth

A second person has died following a two-car crash on a main road near Bridgnorth.

The woman passenger, who was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, has died from her injuries.

The male driver of one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene on Friday afternoon. The two who died have not yet been named but are believed to be an elderly couple from the West Midlands.

They were in a black Ford Mondeo Zetec travelling from Stourbridge towards Bridgnorth along the A458 when they were in collision with a grey Audi A4 TDI estate travelling in the opposite direction. The woman died on Saturday afternoon.

The accident happened on the approach to a corner along the A458 just before 2.45pm on Friday.

West Mercia Police investigating officer Lee Barton said today: "We are continuing the investigation into this tragedy to establish the full circumstances leading up to it."
