Stand-off with police in Market Drayton canal drama
A man sparked a stand-off with police which lasted more than eight hours after threatening to harm himself on a canal boat in Shropshire.

Police negotiators were called to the Shropshire Union Canal near Berrisford Road, in Market Drayton, yesterday morning after reports of a man with a knife threatening to harm himself.
A West Mercia Police spokesman said the incident came to an end with the arrest of a man at 7.30pm. He was taken into custody at Shrewsbury police station for questioning.
