Crashes bring two hours of chaos to Shropshire roads
Seven vehicles were involved in a spate of accidents on Shropshire roads in less than two hours.
Firefighters were called to a house in Market Drayton after a white Transit van veered from the road and crashed into an oil tank at Corner Cottage, Stoke on Tern, at around 4.40pm yesterday.
Oil started leaking into the ground and a crew from Market Drayton helped repair the damage.
Firefighter Roger Smith said: "When we arrived fuel was leaking. Fortunately the tank was on grass and with everything being so wet the oil just drained into the soil.
"We were initially concerned about the possibility of a fire but everything was safe," added Mr Smith who said the van driver suffered no injuries.
Earlier at 3.40pm firefighters from Shrewsbury were called to the A528 in Preston Gubbals, near Shrewsbury, after a car rolled over on to a bank.
The road was closed for a short time.
And at about 3.50pm fire engines from Newport and Market Drayton were called to a collision in Hinstock involving three cars. No-one was hurt.
Firefighters were called to Upton Lane, in Shifnal, at around 5.30pm following a collision between two cars.
Crews used specialist cutting equipment to free a trapped person who was not seriously hurt.
