The pile-up happened at Leebotwood, near Church Stretton after an initial collision caused a 'domino effect'.
A woman in her 20s was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with serious injuries. Another woman was trapped for about 40 minutes before she was cut free.
The woman, who was in her 50s, was also taken to the RSH suffering with neck pain. A man in his 60s was taken to the University Hospital North Staffordshire with multiple minor injuries. The Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford was called but stood down.
The accident happened shortly before 6.30pm on Saturday. The A49 was closed between the B4370 for Church Stretton and Station Road for about an hour.
