Educating Essex head in town

Star of the BAFTA winning TV show, Educating Essex, and author of ‘The Best Job in the World’, will be guest speaker at a teaching conference in Shropshire.

The professional learning conference will be held at The Marches School in Oswestry on February 26.

Vic Goddard, Principal of Passmores Academy, is renowned for his straight-talking approach and

refusing to let a student fail, in the BBC fly-on- the-wall style documentary.

He will be joined by speakers including Professor Dame Alison Peacock, Chief Executive of the Chartered College of Teaching, Ross McGill, experienced teacher and school leader, Sir William Atkinson one of the UK’s most respected headteachers.

More than 300 professionals working in the education sector have registered to attend the one-day event packed with motivational talks and over 15 workshops.

The professional learning conference has been organised in partnership with the Strategic School Improvement Fund.

Sarah Longville, CEO of The Marches Academy Trust, said, “For the third consecutive year we are

fortunate to be able to continue stimulating our school colleagues on a national level with speakers

including Sir William Atkinson, the inspiration behind the BBC’s drama Hope and Glory. The

principle aim of the event is to see schools working collaboratively towards a shared vision and

enhancing our education system."
