*Help your child prepare a realistic timetable for revision. A varied approach will help reduce boredom and make them more attentive.

*Try to include social activities within the revision timetable to give them something to work towards.

*Chat to them about what they have learned, and encourage them to explain things in their own words.

*Offer them the chance to practise for the exam by attempting timed questions or essays in exam conditions. It will make the real thing seem less daunting.

*Encourage your child to revisit topics from time to time. It is easier to remember things if you they go back to them more than once.

*Some youngsters like to study in quiet, others prefer to listen to music. Allow them to do what they are most comfortable with.

*Remember, if your child can stick to what they are supposed to be doing 80 per cent of the time, they are doing all right. Be flexible, but encourage them to make up any time lost.
