Bridgnorth school welcomes teachers from Tanzania partnership
A school has welcomed two teachers from a partner school in Africa.
Bridgnorth Endowed School played host to headteacher Rose Msafiri and Swahili teacher Athuman Hotty from Umonga Secondary school in Dodoma, Tanzania last week.
This is the second year of the partnership between the two schools and follows previous visits to Tanzania by Bridgnorth Endowed School headteacher Phil Loveday over the past two years.
Mr Loveday said: "It is vital that students are given the skills that will help them be the successful global citizens of the future.
"Academic success is important to any student and parent, but there must be development of all the skills for life explicit in a student's school experience."
Bridgnorth Endowed School also played host to students and teachers from a school in China last week, when they were able to have online video chats live with the other pupils and had lessons in Chinese language and customs.
A group of the Shropshire pupils will be visiting China at Easter next year.
Bridgnorth Endowed School pupils also work alongside Laval University in Canada on global citizenship projects.
The school was awarded the coveted International School status earlier this year.
The school said it hopes that in the future it will be able to continue to develop partnerships with schools and students from across the world for the benefit of Bridgnorth pupils and as well as other children worldwide.
