Criminal's sentencing delayed after interpreter organised from the wrong country

A judge apologised to a criminal whose sentence was delayed after an interpreter from the wrong country was organised.

Andrei Giugiuc, aged 26, was due to face justice after attacking a man, telling a policeman he would kill two people and being in possession of a wooden bat in Oswestry.

Giugiuc, a Romanian national, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court for his sentence, but a Polish interpreter had been organised for him by mistake.

Rob Edwards, representing Giugiuc, said: "He is able to follow some English, but not enough to follow court proceedings.
