Elderly woman disturbs burglars in her Market Drayton home
Police are on the hunt for three men after an elderly woman in her nineties arrived home to find intruders in her living room.
The three men fled from the scene after the pensioner returned to her home in Smithfield Road, Market Drayton, taking with them a purse containing her pension and savings.
Detective Inspector Mark Bellamy of West Mercia Police said: "This was a shocking experience for the elderly resident. She is very upset but fortunately was not hurt.
"They targeted an elderly and vulnerable person, stealing money and causing considerable distress."
The intruders may have been in the house for some time after carrying out a search of the property.
Police are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the men yesterday before or after the crime.
The three men were wearing hoodies and left the crime scene just after 5pm yesterday.
