Shropshire's FBC Manby Bowdler law firm ranks in top tier again
Shropshire law firm FBC Manby Bowdler LLP has been ranked in the top tier of law firms in the West Midlands outside Birmingham, for its work in commercial litigation and family matters by the Legal 500, the leading independent guide to law firms.
For the third year running the firm, which has offices in Shrewsbury, Telford and Bridgnorth, was also ranked in the top tier of corporate and commercial law firms, in the West Midlands, based outside Birmingham.
FBC Manby Bowdler also scored the highest ranking for law firms based in Shropshire for its work in employment, intellectual property, insolvency, commercial property, construction, planning, the charities sector, and social housing, while no other county-based firm was ranked more highly for agriculture and estates, debt recovery, corporate crime and personal tax, trusts and probate.
In the commercial litigation team Shrewsbury-based partner Brian Aikman was recommended, while in the family department, which has been increasingly advising on pre-nuptial agreements, cohabitation and inheritance claims and Children Act cases, Shropshire partners Philip Cowell and Anne Thomson were praised.
In its corporate and commercial department FBC Manby Bowdler Shrewsbury-based partner Stuart Rea was singled out for praise by the Legal 500, and the corporate team as a whole described as 'strong'.
The improved rankings are just reward for FBC Manby Bowdler which has recently strengthened its agricultural and rural services, employment and litigation teams in Shrewsbury, with the recruitment of highly respected agricultural solicitors Sarah Baugh and Tom Devey, and the relocation of employment specialists, partner Alasdair Hobbs and solicitor Charlotte Charlesworth-Jones, from the firm's Telford and Wolverhampton offices respectively. Litigation partner Brian Aikman has also moved full time to the
Shrewsbury office.
FBC Manby Bowdler also continues to play a major role in the county's cultural, sporting and business life, with its ongoing sponsorships of the newly revamped Shropshire Cricket League, of Shrewsbury's Theatre Severn, and of key agricultural shows and cultural events throughout the county.
Its most recent sponsorship is that of Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery's inaugural annual Contemporary Art Public Lecture Programme – 'Artists' Illustrated Talks' – a major focus in the run up to the launch of the new Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery in 2013.
