The fire was said to have been caused by a power cable that had fallen and set a blaze in the woodland area.

Crews used a lance from the incident support unit, buckets of water, knapsacks and beaters to contain and then extinguish the fire.

The fire service said National Grid was investigating the live cables and the incident, which was under control by 11.50am, has been left with them.
