River levels are rising at the Llanymynech river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall at the River Vyrnwy at Maesbrook and also at Melverley.

Flooding experts warn that flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected Thursday overnight into Friday morning as the levels peak.

“Please move possession and valuables off the ground or to safety,” the warning website says.

“We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services and Local Authorities.”

In addition to the 'act now' warnings, there are also a slew of 'be prepared' flood alerts across Shropshire, including the Ledwyche Brook and River Rea; Rea Brook and Cound Brook;  low lying land and roads adjacent the river Severn from Shrewsbury to Upper Arley; the Severn Vyrnwy confluence, and the Upper Teme in the south of the county.

The situation is set to be updated later this morning (Friday).
