A middle aged man was airlifted to hospital suffering from multiple stab wounds. His middle aged partner was also airlifted to a different hospital suffering from stab wounds to the chest and ribs.

It is understood one patient was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham while the other was flown to University Hospital Stoke.

An elderly lady was also found at the property in Sefton Drive, Bomere Heath and was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by land ambulance where she has been receiving treatment for serious head injuries.

None of the injuries to the three people are thought to be life threatening.

The incident, which has been described as a 'domestic', happened around 8.15am on Wednesday morning and the alarm was raised when a woman, holding a knife and wearing a dressing gown and slippers, ran in to the village shop calling for help.

Police and ambulance crews raced to the scene along with two air ambulances from RAF Cosford and found the man and the elderly lady injured inside the detached bungalow.

Investigations are continuing and forensic officers have been working at the house. CCTV footage from the local Co-op store has also been seized.

Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the attack.
