As president of Carers Trust, The Princess Royal will visit Carers Trust 4all Shropshire carers service at Sutton Farm on Tuesday to see the work it does to help and support carers in the area.

Her Royal Highness will meet Michael James, chair of Carers Trust 4all and chief executive Andrea Kinsey who will accompany her throughout the visit.

Carers Trust 4all offers a wide range of practical services and activities and provides advice, advocacy, support and friendship for carers, and people with care needs.

During her visit, the Princess will meet trustees, commissioners and funders, staff who deliver the services, together with many unpaid carers, including a group of young carers who are supported by the organisation.

Before leaving, Her Royal Highness will unveil a plaque to commemorate her visit, receive a gift from a young carer, and be invited to sign the visitors' book.

Mrs Kinsey, said: "We are delighted that Her Royal Highness is visiting us. It is a tremendous boost for unpaid carers, staff and volunteers. During her visit, the Princess will be able to meet many of the adults and young carers we work with and hear about their experiences and views on how unpaid carers should be supported in the future."

Mr James added: "Unpaid carers are dedicated people who often have to balance their caring role with work and education. For some caring can be an extremely isolating experience with the potential for unpaid carers to feel depressed, tired, anxious and disempowered.

"Carers say that having relevant, up-to-date information and access to services which offer practical and emotional support is crucial. It can make the difference between being able to cope or feeling isolated and alone. It is a tremendous that Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal has devoted so much time and energy to championing the cause of unpaid carers."

Princess Anne will be accompanied on her visit by the Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire, Sir Algernon Heber-Percy and will also meet the Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Ioan Jones, the Mayoress of Shrewsbury, Susan Jones and Gail Scott Spicer, chief executive of the Carers Trust.
